Pear & Apple Pie

Here's some more evidence of my current pie obsession, but I'm on the road for the holiday and don't have the time to blog the recipe. This is one of my best looking pies to date. I made it Sunday night with some ingredients leftover from last week's fundraiser pie making . . . some leftover caramelized apples and some straight-up apples and pears from a fundraiser dish I haven't yet blogged about . . . and some sugar, flour, cinnamon, clove, ginger and lemon juice . . . nothing fancy, but it was delicious. I mainly just wanted to show you the pretty photo today and to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving!

I've never done pears in a pie; always worried they had too much water. Did that present any problems?

Nope . . . no problem. The mixture was about 1/3 pears and 2/3 apples. I used bosc pears, which aren't quite as wet as bartlets, but the pears held up nicely through the baking and the bottom of the crust wasn't excessively wet.

That's much better looking than any pie I've ever made.
